Pool Care Tips

Seasonal advice and maintenance tips for pool owners in New Jersey.

Seasonal

When to Open Your Pool in NJ

In New Jersey, we typically recommend opening your pool once overnight temps stay above 50°F and the risk of a hard freeze has passed—usually mid-April to early May. Opening too early can mean extra work if another cold snap hits; opening too late can mean algae and a harder startup. Schedule your opening in advance so you get your preferred date.

Seasonal

When to Close Your Pool in NJ

Closing usually happens from late September through October, before leaves and cold weather take over. The water should still be balanced and relatively clean when we close it—that makes opening next spring much easier. We’ll winterize the equipment, add closing chemicals, and secure the cover so your pool is protected until spring.

Maintenance

Why Weekly Service Helps

Weekly skimming, vacuuming, brushing, and chemical checks keep the water clear and the equipment running smoothly. Skipping a week or two can lead to algae, cloudy water, and extra cost to fix it. Consistent weekly service is usually the most cost-effective way to enjoy a trouble-free pool all season.

Keeping Your Pool Safe

Proper chemical balance isn’t just about clear water—it keeps the water safe for swimming and helps protect your liner and equipment. We test and balance pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels. If you have questions about what we’re adding or why, just ask. We’re happy to explain.
